BLS Skills Check
The BLS for Healthcare Providers skills check is approximately a half hour. The skills check is designed for EMS personnel, physicians, physician assistants, nurses, doctors and others in the healthcare industry. You must hold a current BLS certification in order to take the online BLS test through the American Heart Association's website. Once you successfully complete the online BLS test, you need to print the certificate of completion to prove you passed the online exam and bring this document with you to your skills test session.. Thereafter you may enroll in the practical skills test portion. We will issue your BLS for Healthcare Providers card which is valid for two years.
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to do the following:
- Describe the links in the AHA Chain of Survival
- Describe the steps of CPR
- Perform 1 & 2 person rescuer CPR for adults, children and infants
- Give mouth-to-mouth, mouth-to-barrier device and use of a bag-valve-mask
- Relieve a foreign body airway obstruction in a responsive or unresponsive victim of any age
- Know how and when to activate the Emergency Response System
- Know how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED)
