Heartsaver First Aid
The Heartsaver First Aid course without CPR is approximately 3 hours and may be shorter depending on the number of students in each class. We offer one to one instruction as well. This course is for anyone who wants to learn how to respond to adult illnesses and emergencies like medical emergencies and injury emergencies. Other topics available to learn are environmental emergencies, CPR and AED. This course is for anyone who wants to learn First Aid, personal trainers, daycare providers or people who are required to have this certification for work. Your American Heart Association card is good for two years. Prior to the completion of the class there is a skills exam. There is a book which is not included called Heartsaver First Aid Student Workbook or Heartsaver First Aid With CPR and AED Student Workbook.
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to do the following:
- Administer first aid to yourself and others
- Identify and administer first aid for bleeding, broken bones, burns, seizures, heat stroke, hypothermia, and frostbite
- Recognize life threatening emergencies
- Manage medical and injury emergencies
- Relieve a foreign body airway obstruction in a responsive or unresponsive adult
- Know how and when to activate the Emergency Response System
